Sports Fanatics

Many people are multiple sport athletes, but everyone always has that one sport they love the most.
For Trevor Berry, Patrick Rust, and Zach Collins, that favorite sport is basketball. For Trevor and Zach, they enjoy being on the court with their friends and have been playing since they were young. Pat enjoys basketball because it is something that has always been there for him since he was young.
Pat's favorite basketball memory is from his freshman year. "I got my first dunk, and everyone was so, so loud," Rust said. Trevor Berry also mentioned his favorite memory was when "I had ten three pointers in a game and broke a school record," he said.
Another common favorite sport is volleyball. For Shea Bailey and Tyleigh Strotheide, this sport has been their favorite ever since they were in about 4th grade. Shea Bailey loves the game because, "It is a team sport, and you can not do it by yourself," she says. "You always have to work together if you want to win," she said. Tyleigh Strotheide also enjoys the game as a team and "getting to be with my friends." Strotheide and Bailey both have another year left with this sport and can not wait for the coming season with their team.

Pizza Perspectives

Pizza is a commonly known and enjoyed food. In fact, many people would consider their affections for pizza "love".
What is it, though, that makes pizza so appealing? For Lucy Biernacki it is, "How the cheese mixes well with the sauce and toppings." In Kade Waggner's opinion pizza is not all about its taste. He enjoys pizza because, "It brings people together. You don't buy a whole pizza just to eat yourself. You buy a pizza for your family or a sporting event." Spencer Blundell can also attest to this, stating that he enjoys time spent with his family while eating pizza.
Many favorites go along with pizza, as well. People enjoy a variety of toppings on their pizza including anywhere from chicken to peppers, or even just cheese. There are also many options for styles and flavors of pizza. While Kade and Lucy enjoy a thin crust, others, like Claire Fox and Spencer like very thick crust.
The best flavor of pizza, however, is something no one seems to be able to agree on. For example, Spencer likes chicken-bacon-ranch, Lucy likes supreme, and Kade likes Hawaiian.
Where to get pizza is another point of argument amongst peers. While most people prefer homemade pizza, a few, like pizza from restaurants. Spencer said, "I prefer the restaurant pizza because it is their specialty, and it shows." When they do go out to get pizza, people don't all go to the same place. Spencer and Claire both like Dominoes, but Kade prefers Papa Murphy's.

Sub-districts and Districts

On Tuesday, February 12, the girls' basketball team competed against Gordon-Rushville during the first round of sub-districts. The game was held in the CSC Chicoine Center Gym. Chadron won with a score of 44 to 35.
The Lady Cardinals fought hard against the Mustangs. The top scorer of the game was Peyton Underwood with a score of 17 points. Olivia Reed scored 13, and Shea Bailey scored 7 points during the game.  Tyleigh Stroetheide had over 5 steals from Gordon-Rushville. Everyone fought hard to get the ball, including getting the rebounds. The top rebounder was Peyton with a total of 7 rebounds. Olivia and Shea tied with 5 rebounds each.
Wining this sent them to sub-district finals, where they played Mitchell. Unfortunately, they lost to Mitchell. This game is what ended the basketball season.
"The Lady Cardinals fought all season to get to where they were," said Coach Jonn McLain. They exceeded everyone's expectations by winning games that no one thought they could win, McLain said. Their record for the season was 15-9.

Favorite Brands of Jeans

At Chadron High School, there are many different styles and brands of clothes. A lot of people tend to wear jeans, but do they have a favorite kind.
There are a few people who don't mind to shell out money and get expensive jeans. Hanna Walker said, "I love Grace jeans, although they are expensive, they are well worth the money." Walker says she tries to find inexpensive jeans, but to fit her standards it can be very hard. Walker says she usually buys two or three pairs a year. Another person who likes expensive pairs of jeans is Katelyn Briggs. Briggs said, "My favorite brands of jeans are either American Eagle or Rock Rivals because they are both good quality jeans." Briggs also says the jeans she gets are very expensive, but the quality is good enough that they are worth it.
Although some people like to buy expensive pants, there are many people who enjoy cheaper pants.  Hayly Clark said, "My favorite brand of jeans of Lee's. They are easy to find at Walmart, and they were not expensive." She also said, "The Lee jeans I get are really comfy and that is a big deal when buying jeans." Not only Hayly likes cheaper jeans, but Morgan Rutledge also likes inexpensive jeans. Morgan said, "My favorite jeans are Kan Can. I enjoy this brand because they are very comfortable, and they actually fit around my waist."
There are many different opinions about the different jeans people chose. Some people chose there jeans off of price, and some people chose their jeans off of comfort but its all personal opinion.

American Enterprise With FBLA

On Friday, February 15, members of the FBLA Chapter were given the opportunity to present an American Enterprise project to Mrs. Barbara Waugh's eighth grade class. Leading this project were, Lauren Collins, Kellie Waugh, and Jameson Margetts. Their main focuses of the project included facts of the American Enterprise system within the school and/or community, interactive skills, and the importance of education when transitioning through different stages. All of the members present were able to interact with the students by talking about the significance of a resume and interview. The group then helped each kid fill out what they could on their own resume.
Kellie Waugh and Jameson Margetts both said education, along with a plan, is very important at a young age and allows you to shape your future.
After the whole presentation, Mrs. Waugh was impressed with the outcome and asked the FBLA members to come back again and share with her other classes.
